Elitists and Noobs

You'll have to forgive me if I start jumping around, I'm half asleep typing this...^_^*

I've come up against walls with these elitists and noobs.......especially so these past few days.

An elitist is so well classified by Joey5944 on urbandictionary.com. He says, "Contrary to people who think that there are actually people that are elitist, most people who are elitist are arrogant pricks who place themselves as higher than others without actual evidence of their higher standing. Elitists also come in many different shades and colors, from the college student-use big words-smarter than everyone, to the gym rat who thinks that because they spend 1/2 their life lifting weights, that their life is in some way worth more than a piece of toilet paper. Most often, when one is confronted with an elitist, the first thing that anyone feels for them, upon learning that this person regards themselves as an elitist, is utter repulsion at the fact that this animal scum believes themselves to be in any way above their fellow primates."

A Noob is defined by Slyke the Phoxenix on urbandictionary.com as someone who knows little and have no will to learn any more [on a certain subject]. They expect people to do the work for them and then expect to get praised about it, and make up a unique species of their own.

One of the two main "elitsts" that is affecting me are the JRock elitists who think that just because they have and can pull off insane piercings totally mean they dress "Visual Kei" (Visual-kei is a movement born in the early 80's in Japan, it's about music and image at the same time. Visual-kei band members use makeup and dress up in a very eccentric way. Members of these bands make a dramatization of their music on stage and their image helps them on it. Individualism is what Visual-kei people look for, not to be part of society so to speak. The dramatization of their music is an influence of Kabuki theatre. ~ -Seiryuu- on urbandictionary.com) and that everyone that's starting out or is a little over the top is considered, in LJ terms, visual_fucks -worthy. visual_fucks is a Livejournal community for these elitists to gather and mock these people. I myself was put on that community here recently.

Lolitas are just as, if not more worse than the JRock/Visual Kei elitists. They have at least three communities on livejournal dedicated to bringing down people. I'm not going to name them all, but it's definitely a task trying to keep up with them.

I don't understand where these elitist come from. I know there are times I act like one, but I can't stand noobs, so it's kind of necessary. But, I don't go out of my way to personally tear apart everything about them. If I'm sure they're not going to come off like a jerk (to put it nicely), then I'll try to offer constructive criticism.

Elitists, no matter how much they will deny it, were once new to everything too. They just didn't appear one day and go, "Hey! I'm so Visual Kei (or Lolita)! Look at me!" In my opinion, what little it matters on the internet, if we could realize we share a common interest and go with it, agree to disagree or whatnot, everything would go a little less drama-free. But...that would be too easy, wouldn't it?

To me, getting posted on visual_fucks was a stepping stone. Okay, I know it was a bad bad cosplay, but, I've moved on from it and learned my lesson. I've also met great and awesome friends (Nashi, Six, Chrnos, Rami, and quite a few others) who have helped me along the way. And I trust them with giving me advice that won't land me in the visual_fucks or getoffegl category again.
